Slackware is becoming a bit long in the tooth. Updates are slow, which means security fixes are slow.

Wholeheartedly support this and am looking forward to it. But part of me is sad to lose Slackware. Entirely for nostalgia reasons. It was the first Linux distro I really dug in on and used regularly. First distro I set a server up on so very long ago. It was kind of nice always having there in the background on Unraid.
The price increased 4 times over the previous price.
Add the MCU collection, and it to monitored.

It really is the best tool for the job.

4·2 months agoI would spend more, because im not building a server out of a mini pc. I would also optionally buy used or refurbished parts to save money given the state of things.
And as others have pointed out there’s serious concerns about the long term support of its non-standard CPU.
Even you have pointed out that it’s an incredible price for what you get. Why is that? Is it really?

5·3 months agoNo, but the founder naively praised Trump for an executive branch nomination he thought would play out in his favor. I don’t think it was a month later when Trump made it obvious he was just going to sell his entire administration to the big powerful tech bros. The Proton founder should have known better and just looked like an idiot, or worse a supporter, for praising Trump.

The manager sucked. There’s a lot of solutions to this issue but cross training and proper backup preparation are the most ideal ones.
